    Hi All,

Could someone please tell me which is the best MERC dealer in dublin (sales, after sales and service wise) or around? I need advice as to which MERC E-Class model is best comfort, and maintenance wise? I would be looking at any E-Class model less then 2.4 ltr at max (petrol or diesel) and year would be 03,04,05.

    All guidance/feedback welcome and appreciated.

    Thank you.

Well if you are happy to run a 2.4L petrol one of those, I would suggest instead you should consider running a larger 6 cylinder diesel. You would be then getting a pretty nice engine with lots of power, reasonable running costs albeit with increased road tax.

thanks all for the replies. Also, what are different variants in E-Class like avantgarde, Kompressor...etc. What exactly is the difference between them? considering i have budget of 15-20k which model and variant would suit best? thank you all again.

Classic, Elegance and Avantgarde are spec levels. There is also sport packs available on them but they are rare.

Kompressor refers to the engine - it's a 1.8 supercharged petrol. All the other petrols are V6 and V8 afaik. There are quite a few diesel variants - 2.2 4 cylinder in 220cdi, 2.7 5 cylinder in 270cdi, 6 cylinder 3.2 in 320cdi. In later years the 270 was replaced by the 280cdi which I think was a detuned version of a 3 litre unit that also replaced the 3.2 in the 320 cdi.

Just make sure you buy an auto whatever one you pick

I was just comparing E200 prices for various models/variants and they do vary alot from dealer to dealer. I see some give "STAR SELECT" warranty and some dont. my question is if you go with cash on hand do they give some discount/reduce the price? or it is fixed as seen on carzone?

    Thank you.

Generally they will, but the available discount depends on how keenly-priced the car is in the first place.

anyone who knows anything about mercs will agree he is the man for a secondhand merc (no i did'nt buy my 500 there but i use him for parts)

My IRL experience with Mercs is that if you want anything resembling service with a petrol engined machine then you go to mainline UK.

    Bid on...

I am led to believe that Brady's of Castleknock are the best of a bad bunch.

MSL of Pottery Road have achieved infamous notoriety at this stage for bad service.

I have to agree with the Shill tbh, Alo's are quite good on both sales and service
