Do we have any fans here? Of course most of you guys will know them for Cult of Personality but their first two albums are brilliant, and the others are good as well. Really under-rated band IMO.

Oh yes indeedy. I tend to look at bands from a bassist's viewpoint, and Living Colour has had two greats. First Muzz Skillings - no slouch, then he left and was replaced by http://www.dougwimbish.com/, a freaking monster whom I already knew from the London scene: On-U Sound, Keith LeBlanc, and the mighty TackHead. Doug joined Living Colour just before Stain, and he's all over that. I just played Ausländer through some decent headphones, and I think I need a drink: :pac:

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

I'm not a fan of Time's Up but Stain and last year's The Chair in the Doorway are great albums in my opinion.

Wimbish is a beast. The whole band is really accomplished musically.

I reckon there'd be a few Fishbone fans on this thread.... :)

Savage band, debut album is killer with exceptional playing by all. Will Calhoun played Pearl Custom Z's that sounded monster munch. Nearly pulled the trigger on one a few years ago.

I have been a fan since I bought their debut single and if they played here I would be there at the front of the stage.

CM Punk really brought them back into mainstream attention.

Love Fishbone especially their earlier stuff like "Reality of my Surroundings" & "Truth & Soul" albums. :)
Haven't heard the new Living Colour stuff yet but have the older cds.

Some of the LC stuff reminds me a bit of Fishbone..

I saw them on the Truth and Soul tour and they were mind blowing. Like the Harlem Globetrotters of music. Trumpet, trombone, glass cane, drummer sitting sideways, rasta bassist. Tight as fu@k.
One of my favourite albums still, listened to it a fortnight ago.

I urge everyone to listen to it especially the cover version of Freddie's Dead.

Anyone who might also like Fishbone. Check out their live dvd from a few years ago from Bordeaux. Rocky George on guitar! Brilliant live album.

Apparently living colour play the button factory in November. Tickets should have gone on sale at 9am today but not available. Surely not sold out already?

Ticket arrived in the post yesterday! Great service.

Got mine today. So long as the local residents don't object to the 500 concert goers for 1 night in a row. Farth brooks all over again ;)

Maybe you should put quotes around "promoter", given that it's not been advertised anywhere, and folks are finding out about it here ... it's not even on the Button Factory website.

Can you relax on the promoter crap. I'm promoting the gig.the contract was signed on Monday and tickets went on sale on Tuesday.advertising will start next week.
I am not a promoter!!I am a fan of the band who put his money where his mouth us and got the band to play here.I'm taking a financial risk and you should be grateful they're playing here. But if you bought a ticket I'm grateful so thanks.
It's going to be a great gig.

Stumbled across this purely by accident.
Huge fan of the band, fair play for getting them over.

    Looking forward to the gig...

Last night's gig in San Francisco is on Yahoo. Probably the deadest crowd I've ever seen at a gig. And what the hell is Corey Glover wearing?

    https://screen.yahoo.com/live/event/living-colour

EDIT - Having watched bits of this, i can see why the crowd were nearly asleep. Plenty of self-indulgent wankery going on. Just play some damn songs.

Apologies for bumping this thread but.....

I see living colour are back on a European tour later this year....but no Irish dates listed. So much for the last gigs being rescheduled.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,687 ✭✭✭✭jack presley

News album called Shade out September 8 too.

Of all the Chris Cornell tributes so far, this one really stands out-just brilliant.
I was unaware they were even still together ....:o
(apologies to you hardcore fans ;-) )

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 412 ✭✭MOTM

Saw the Chris Cornell tribute and new album release date alright. Still doesn't make it any less irritating that they're ignoring Ireland in their tour. Again.

Just turn on the radio and it’ll tell you why. When was the last time you heard Living Colour on the radio? When will you ever hear Living Colour, or bands like Fishbone on Irish radio? Not anytime soon.
It’s pop and *a lot* of ****e over hyped indie rock.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,687 ✭✭✭✭jack presley

Maybe ticket sales for the gig that was called off were poor so the promoter didn't see it worthwhile to book them again?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,863 ✭✭✭seachto7

More than likely. A pity though. I'd love to see Fishbone here.
