Trackpad continuously 'clicked'?

Hmm, here's a weird problem that's sorta annoying me.

I have a 15" MacBook Pro that I got last October, and every now and then it will happen that the trackpad acts like it's continuously clicked. I would drag my finger over a webpage, and all the text I cross over would be highlighted. I'd go to move over a link - like the navigation ones at the top of Boards - and instead of opening up the drop-down list, it would grab the link, like I wanted to drag it into a different tab.

If I went outside the part of the page with the text and double-clicked, and waited it a bit, it would sometimes stop doing this, but I couldn't find a solution that worked every time, or on the first go, so I don't really know what's causing/solving it. It seems a bit random.

Has anyone ever had this? I had 'tap to click' switched on, just turned it off, and I'm waiting to see if the problem will re-occur, but I really like using the tap to click setting.

Any advice or nods very much appreciated :)

This is actually a feature called "tap dragging". You'll find it in trackpad preferences under "tap to click". The way it works is that if you double tap and move your finger, it holds the click down. It holds for a few seconds after you lift your finger as well which is what is causing your problem. You must be accidentally double tapping. Just disable "dragging" and it will go away. Or double tap again to release the click.

Hmm, I use that way of dragging a lot, and I've never had this trouble with it until Yesterday. I dunno, I'm not totally convinced that's the cause. I was pretty used to the trackpad, tapping and all.

Is "drag lock" enabled? With that enabled, the click won't release until you double tap again.
