Rose of Tralee "SkyFest" Airshow

    Hi All,

    This year the Rose of Tralee will be celebrating it's 51st year. See festival website here: www.roseoftralee.ie

    This year we have introduced our "SkyFest" airshow. We hope to make this an annual event and grow on it each year.

    Here is the website: www.airshowtralee.com . It's quite bare at the moment but will be bulked up shortly.

    Look back at the website during the week for the additions to the line-up.

    Airshow will be held Saturday 21st August at 5pm in Tralee.

    We'll have full line-up hopefully by the end of the week. We'll be starting off small (cerca 7 aircraft) and if all goes well, we will grow it each year.

    Why so? It will either be myself or the display director doing the commentary.

    Lapin anytime you post on the forum its smart or childish remarks and looks like a very bad attempt at trolling. If you dont wish to add to the thread then dont. Also please take a read of the charter

    Having seen the Knights a few times now, my foremost memory (and that of many others) is of the commentator rather than the display itself. His attempts at humour are as bad as my quip about about the earplugs above. Telling the crowd that "this is the first time these guys have ever taken a parachute jump" or "they can actually hear what you're saying up there" is more cringe-worthy than funny. Describing what is happening by repeatedly telling the crowd to "look up now, have a look at the lovely coloured parachutes" and "wave to all four members of the Black Knights" is hardly very informative. Instead of telling the crowd what is happening, (they can see that themselves), why not let them know how it is happening. A little technical info on how some of the jumps are undertaken wouldn't go astray.
    I'm not trying to be offensive here, just throwing in my tuppence worth of constructive crit. Enjoy Tralee and best of luck there. I'd love to go but can't make it that w/end.

    The airshow went fantastic - didn't expect the thousands that showed up. We've decided to make it an annual event so expect bigger and better things next year!
