Jane Badler now lives in Melbourne and has just joined the cast of Neighbours so I wonder how many eps of V she will be in?

    According to Wiki
In March 2010, Badler was cast as the "villainous" Diana Marshall in the Australian soap opera Neighbours.[2] She has a four-month guest contract with the show.[3]

I would imagine she is already in Vancouver fliming her scenes by now.

The Shield alum Jay Karnes will join ABC's V in a recurring role. Karnes will play FBI agent Chris Bolling, a newly assigned partner for agent Erica Evans (Elizabeth Mitchell). The two have some history, having trained together at Quantico. However, Bolling quickly begins to suspect Erica may have divided loyalties when it comes to her dedication to the Visitor resistance group, the Fifth Column.
His role on V reunites with him former Shield producer Scott Rosenbaum, who now serves as V's showrunner.
The second season of V is slated to begin airing in November on ABC.

    Woo!...Marc Singer returns!!

The excitement just keeps on building for ABC's V. Following the awesome news that Jane Badler will be appearing as Anna's evil mother Diana comes word that Jane's original V co-star Marc Singer will also be appearing on the updated version of NBC's '80s cult fave. A show source tells me exclusively that Marc, who played freedom fighter Mike Donovan in the '80s version, will be playing a new character named Lars Tremont. Lars is a member of a super top secret organization comprised of high-ranking military and government leaders from around the globe, who have long suspected that the Visitors — despite what they tell us — are very much not here in peace.

Marc, 62, is also known to sci-fi fans for his role in the 1982 film The Beastmaster and the more recent Beastmaster spin-off series, while soap fans might Remember him from Dallas or The Young & the Restless. Jane Badler will make her debut in the Jan. 4 season premiere, while Marc will pop up in the 10th episode, which is also the second season finale. The two won't share any scenes in the episode...but there's always that possibility in season three. (Fingers crossed.) Faye Grant, make sure your cell phone's charged! You might be next!

This has to be the most STUPID looking alien ever!
SPOILERS -- > an image of what the V's look like under the human skin: http://www.movieweb.com/news/v-alien-revealed

^ wtf!!!!!....it looks NOTHING bipedal or humanoid like at all, how the hell do the magage to look "human"?

Just watched the first ep. - it was actually pretty solid!...some pretty badass scenes with Anna as well!, they dealt with the whole red rain thing too quickly imo, would liked to have seen that one played out more. Least they moved the plot on a bit. But good start to the season!

    Looks like a cross between
the head of an alien from the alien franchise the back of an alien from starship troopers

Not a bad start to the series, but I get the feeling that they're trying to make every scene dramatic with the music. I know people complain about filler, but this just gets irritating.

At least Dr Whats-his-name can use his reaper powers to help them.

Enjoyable enough first episode of the new season - but there was one bit that I thought was over the top even for this show.
When they go to the university and chase the alien, ok, I could believe they really needed to catch him - but they then disintegrate him in the middle of the street - what the heck! Some secret organisation they are....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 767 ✭✭✭Odats

Thought it was a solid first episode back. Would be interesting to see what ratings it pulled in the US. It will be interesting to see how the whole Anna's mother will play out.
Also, the Tyler chosen one thing will be played out aswell and Lisa turning against her mother etc.
Hopefully it won't be pulled early.

  • Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 18,004 Mod ✭✭✭✭ixoy

Enjoyable but in a stupid thrash kind of way. Lots of moments that made little sense that were there for the drama alone:

    * The stupidity of Lisa and Erica whispering aloud in the alien mothership
    * The alien guy after Watts leaping (pointlessly) in parkour style around the university stairs rather than simply running down them...
    * The open killing of said alien in broad daylight
    * The ease at which the people accepted Anna's "red rain" explanation without any investigation
    * Erica wanting to do a blood test and slicing open her hand - would you just wait one moment and let someone get a syringe? Why do you have to be so dramatic?
    * Ryan not being tracked by Anna despite his dubious allegiances

A dumb show, but despite (or because of) that I still kinda like it.

I thought it was a brilliant first episode to start season 2. So much going on. Some of it was a bit silly though like others have mentioned. Thankfully very little Tyler but even a small amount is painful. Didn't even know Jane Badler was going to be appearing, love it!

Letting us see his face melt off and then reveal it was a dream was one of the cruellest things ever in TV :D

Even though I knew she was coming back at some stage, saw her name in the credits, I yelped a bit when Diana appeared. Yay for V! I really enjoyed this episode apart from some of the aforementioned clunkiness. Anna is a badass when she's pissed off. Loved the scientist guy's quip about being disappointed she was a lizard on account of her hotness.
I'm wondering now if Tyler is part lizard, a bit like the starchild was human except for the tongue and the twin that died was a lizard?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

I'm REALLY worried about the direction this show is going based on ep. 2!!
Diana is a wasted character, some lame lizard hold up in the basement, all loved up with human emotion who listens to classical music. Are they SERIOUS with this "human soul" malarky?

That's there secret waepon?....to identify the human soul and destroy it?...the best thing about the ep. despite dodgy CGI was Anna eating the rat, a la the scene in the original mini series. Personally i think the original even looked better, even with modern CGI the scene looked no better then it did in 1984.

Lame episode for the most part.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,788 ✭✭✭tvnutz

I liked it,enjoying it for what it is. They are not saying the soul is actually a physical thing, they are exploring human emotion and decisions through the characters. Anna reckons it is a thing that can be found and destroyed, others think it is just part of being human.

Its moving at a quicker pace and heating up. I'm looking forward to the next episode.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,722 ✭✭✭anotherlostie

I'm really enjoying it so far. The fans are being given what they were looking for - Diana's back (and has camped up the show no end), a view of what the lizards look like and the eating of a live animal. I must admit I was marginally disappointed that the baby didn't eat the rat though!

It's a shame that it looks like Rekha Sharma's time is up as I enjoyed the various layers of subterfuge in the FBI office.

The hunt for the soul is obviously going to be the theme of season 2 - makes sense to have an arc like that for the year if they hope to extend further. It doesn't look like these V's want to eat us though, they just want to mate. Looks like they've nabbed Juliet's infertility storyline from Lost.

I've watched the first two episodes and it's kind of irritating just how ridiculously stupid it is.

    Terrible Writing
    Terrible Acting
    Terrible CGI

...and Morena Baccarin isn't even hot anymore.

I'd be amazed if it sees a 3rd season, I was surprised it even got a 2nd season, hopefully this one will improve.

    ^
Ah its supposed to be cheesy and stupid in fairness. Its not trying to be serious, just tongue in cheek sci-fi.

The CGI does really bother me though. 80's V looked more realistic! I really miss proper special effects like animatronics, miniature scale sets etc. This generic shoddy looking CGI that is in EVERYTHING these days is so dull and boring looking. I'd say nearly 95% of Anna's scenes are filmed in front of a blue screen, she must hate her job!

  • Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 18,004 Mod ✭✭✭✭ixoy

It's utter rubbish but gets away with it because of the intentional cheese factor (it has to be intentional, right).
This idea of a soul? Sounds ridiculous to me! That Anna doesn't think about brain chemistry instantly is just amusing.

Speaking of which, why would wearing a human skin give you a soul? I mean it doesn't replace the brain chemistry, it's just a grown biological outer layer. It doesn't replace their neurons right?
And why would 4400 Priest say the V has a soul? Christianity only, IIRC, ascribes souls to humans above all else. It's against his religion to say otherwise. Then again he's a terrorist priest!

Why does everyone meet and conduct conspiracies in broad daylight in front of everyone?
Why... Actually why am I asking! Expecting intelligence on this show is a bit too much...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,722 ✭✭✭anotherlostie

Well they certainly upped the ick factor tonight. The torture scenes were very graphic and the soul removal process sounded horrific. And OK stupid too (100,000+ subjects???), but maybe that's to make the point that despite their intelligence, the Vs don't get it. I love all the scenes with Diana/ Anna but Lisa is definitely turning into the central pivot of the show (and to think I thought she was there just as eye candy).

The most stupid scene had to be the exploding microwave one - pretty lucky that Ryan knew exactly where to find the right mix of chemicals like that...

Was a decent episode allright, I really liked the way Chad met up and joined the 5th col. officially now.

Are they serious about this soul crap ?

    really ??

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

It was ok, seems that torture stuff got alot of press today, didn't seem that graphic to me tbh, Tyler's face melting was more graphic. Another ep. of Anna wasted and locked in the basement....meh!

A good actress and character underused.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

This soul stuff is real eye rolling stuff, but the rest of the show is hitting the right notes. I like the mother role reversal (Anna/Tyler, Erica/Lisa) and Ryan is walking a thin line - I think the paternal instinct will win out (maybe it already has).

It's a truckload of cheese, but I'm still watching. :)
