FIFA 10 Knockout Tournament

OK, I've had a look here but can't seem to find any knockout tournaments.
So I decided I would make one. PS, don't worry about getting an inexperienced organizer, I've arranged ones on other forums too, so you're in safe hands.

OK, it will probably we a straight knock-out competition, maybe with 2-legs for matches and possibly a similar structure to Champions League/Europa League, i.e., if you get knocked out of main tournament you join a lower grade one. This will all depend on numbers though, sorry if this sounds complicated.

Anyway, you must pick a team with a rating of between 0.5 - 4.0 stars so no 5 star of 4.5 star teams.

Just post your PSN and your desired team below.

The one team can only be used once, i.e. two people can't both use Celtic.

OK, everyone will be assigned a 4 star team, the teams people have already chosen will inlcluded in the draw so you may still get your desired team.
The final date for signups is tomorrow (Aug2) at 1pm.

I'll post more details on the format then.

I'd say you could easily get 16 if you leave it till Wednesday. Don't see what the big rush is.

PROCEDURE
The first round will consist of a 2 legged match, Team 1 plays Team 2, Team 3 plays Team 4, etc.

The losers will drop into a secondary competition whereas the winners will procede to the semi-finals.

All matches are 2-legged except for the final.

First round matches must be played by Friday 6th August at 12pm

PLEASE POST RESULTS IN THIS THREAD.

NOTE: AWAY GOALS COUNT, THE TEAM TO HOST THE FIRST MATCH IS COUNTED AS THE HOME TEAM IN THAT GAME, IE. THE HOME TEAM IN THE FIRST MATCH IS THE HOME TEAM IN THE FIRST MATCH AND THE AWAY TEAM IN THE SECOND MATCH.

Borossia Dortmund will play in the semi-finals, Lazio will enter the first round of the Second Chance tournament were they will meet the losers of the games.

We both agreed to play a third match, which turned out to be a little more one-sided than our first two games. I won 4-0, but that's possibly a bit harsh on bharat.

Think Fernerbache won 3-2 on aggregate. I was pushing for an equaliser in the 2nd game but just couldn't find it. Could have got 2 cheap goals, 1 in either game, but for some reason I decided to do the nice thing and kick the ball out of play:P

Yeah the score was 2-0 to me ib first game and 2-1 to you in the second one. I'd have done the same honestly if you did it I swear. Good games though.

I think the rules where kind of made up as we went along, to be fair to Emmet this was probaly a trial tournament, so hopefully with the next one all the rules would be made clear at the beginning so there's no confusion.

OK guys, it seems some of you aren't 100% on the rules.
If the match is level on aggregate after the two matches, away goals come into it, if the result still remains a tie, a third match will be played and will go as far as penalties to determine a winner.

So, for the Deportivo v Fernerbache game, Deportivo win, as they scored more away goals.

Sorry I wasn't clearer at the start, I forgot all about away goals.

Ok fair enough.

If i can make a suggestion for the next tournament, I think you should not have away goals, and just if its a tie at the end of the 2 games, play a game that can go to penaltys if its tied on aggragete, or just have it so we can select go straight to penaltys/ E.T. + Penaltys at the end of the second game and skip the third game. I think thats a bit better.

This will prevent the whole "who was at home in this game" and "I was the away team in this game; No I was" and all that stuff if people get annoyed or very sore losers. I think its a bit fairer too since its a bit of fun and away goals are a bit annoying.

Yeah, I was planning to do that since it seems a bit more complicated than I anticipated.
