Can anybody tell me if it is possible to install a bigger harddrive on this computer? I currently have a 25GB drive that is at capacity and want to upgrade. Where could I find an internal dell hdd at a reasonable price. Also is it difficult to install. I have a lot of Data on the current drive that I need to keep. What are my options?

    Thanks

Details on how to remove the drive are here:

I think it's an IDE/PATA 2.5'' drive that's in those laptops, but you should take it out and have a look to make sure. Just make sure it's not SATA before you buy. You can find pictures online to compare the connectors to yours.

Something like this would be a suitable replacement

For transferring your data - you have a few options. The easiest way would be to get a hard drive USB enclosure for your old hard drive, install windows or whatever to your new drive and copy the files you need with your old hard drive in the new enclosure.

You might be able to clone your existing windows installation and settings directly to the new drive. This might be possible with an enclosure, or you could probably do it with another computer. To use these harddrives in a desktop computer, you need a specific adapter.

IMO, clean install and enclosure for your old drive would be the easiest way.

So in the line of enclosures, you could get something like (also usable for SATA harddrives; has eSATA and USB connectors):
    http://www.dabs.ie/products/akasa-p2-series-2-5--esata-usb-ext-blk-ali-for-ide-sata-4QTJ.html

You can also get larger hard drive sizes, e.g., 250GB for about €80 and upwards, but you can expect to pay above €50 for any size because the SATA ones have become more mainstream.

If you don't want to pay that, you could try your luck with a wanted ad with adverts.ie or otherwise.
