No need. Sure this was a remake of High Noon in th first place. Did someone say Logan's Run is being remade too?

Then this forum would only have one thread. Well a few list threads as well, I suppose.

Ooh, this is a tough one: as already mentioned, Outland in the first place was a remake of High Noon, so it's hard to get completely agitated about a remake of a remake. It was also made by that great hack, Peter Hyams.
That said, the original film with Sean Connery distanced itself enough from that famous Western that it could be legitimately considered its own work.

And having just followed those links in the OP's post: I was going to say that I would be receptive to a remake of this, on the grounds that one can never have too much blue-collar, "dirty" sci-fi, but then I saw who is attached to direct this movie. Michael Davis, he who directed Shoot 'Em Up.

Scratch that, I'm off to blow myself out of an airlock, drugs or no drugs.

Edit: A thought occured after posting this. I'd love to know how much these remakes cost vs. how much it would take to remaster and re-release the originals in the cinemas.

Surely in the case of little known classics like Outland, it would be result in a potentially larger profit margin to re-release a Sean Connery movie, remaster it and maybe tart up the FX, market it like crazy, than remake the whole thing again. Madness.
