Sensitivity after filling - is this normal??

I've never had a filling before and I got my first one today. The dentist told me to wait a couple of hours before eating something, just to let the anaesthetic wear off so I wouldn't bite my tongue or something. So it wore off a little while ago and I've just had my dinner -turns out I can't chew anything on the right side of my mouth (where I got the filling), it's really sensitive and painful when I chew on that side.

I'm just wondering is this normal immediately after a filling, or should I be worried? Will this kind of sensitivity wear off? I'm heading to Castlepalooza tomorrow morning and really don't want to have tooth issues when trying to eat festival food and drink beer! When I made the appointment to get the filling done they said it would be no problem to go boozing for the weekend after.

I'd be grateful for any experience or advice :(
