Self Build Insurance

Hi, I was wondering if it is necessary to take out Public Liability and Employers liability self build insurance when you have a main contractor appointed for the build with a couple of independent contractors installing heat pumps and kitchen

I know that if you are going the direct labour route it is strongly recommended that you take our PL and ER cover but people I know who went the full contractor route went with the fire/strom/theft policy instead which covers damage to build while in progress - I think its called 'a course of construction policy'

    Thanks
