Weird things with batteries.

Had two weird things happen with batteries.

Before I charged batteries for about an hour and a half and they
appeared to be fully charged only to die after about 3-4 high caps use
    which I thought was weird.

Also was charging some of my nimh 8.4v mini batteries last night and this morning, They are batteries that have only been used 3-4 times and
have been sitting on a shelf for about 6 months. Read that nimhs will typically
self-discharge down to about 40% after a month so after 6 months they should have been dead as a doornail.

Charging at 1000 mA they seemed to be full charged in about 30 mins,
even one was charged in 20 mins this morning.

Only thing I can think of is voltage on the batteries fooling the charger
into thinking batteries are charged when they are not fully charged.
Although the voltage would be slightly under rather than over I would have
thought if that was the case.

what mha rating is the battery?

    four different brands,
three 1100's (and one 1500 firefox one) thought it would take a bit over an hour to charge them. (or 1.3 hrs from flat)

Maybe charging them at 1000 mA causes a voltage spike for
a while which triggers the "Im charged" feature of the charger and they dont get the full charge. Its a Kalashnikov
charger, my other variable Bol charger died on me.
(Either that or I am sleep walking/charging and keeping them topped up and on standby)

The Large type 3600 battries tend to charge with the expected charge time (a little over 4 hours) just happens with the minipacks.

(Bringing 5 small batteries, 2 large batteries, and 5 AEG's with me tomorrow to go airsofting, just in case
there is a problem with any)

Just tried one of my cheapo chargers rated at 500ma with a grip ammeter (yes I do have one that can read DC down into the milliamp range) and it is reading a charge current of only 185-187 milliamps
So if I go by most charge charts assuming a 20% efficiency loss =3.6 hours or 3 hours 36 mins
But if I go my ammeter reading of 185 milliamps then the charge time should be 9.6 hours or 9 hours 36 mins

Since I started this test the ammeter reading has gone up to 205-208 milliamps
So I can only conclude that charging batteries is an unknown variable without a very smart charger
As it is late I will repeat the above test with my IMAX B6 Charger tomorrow as I am now curious as to the results myself and before anybody asks the battery was fully discharged by my home made discharger (2 off 12v x 21watt bulbs wired in parallel)

PS before I go ZZZZZZZZ the ammeter reading is now up to 248-252 milliamps
