Bank transfer? You'll need the IBAN and BIC from the receiver. Takes 2-3 days and should be free apart from any currency conversion margin.

Best way depends how much it is. If it's a fair bit of money try a Forex dealer, but you'll have to create an account with proof of ID etc.

    Don't send cash!

    Western Union works well too.

Western Union is a bloody ripoff.

If you can OP and both banks support it use SEPA.

I send money from my Dutch account to my Bank of Ireland account and it takes 2 to 3 days.

Right! Though its a Sterling draft rather than a postal order, as I was under the impression that you could only buy postal orders in the currency of the issuing country, and the actual postal orders are discontinued now anyway.

Interesting though, I think that info will come in useful.

Thanks everyone :) I think I will opt for the sterling draft but still unsure how it works:confused: for example if I want to pay for something I buy on E-Bay would I need that persons bank account number? or just their name and address to send the sterling draft to? Do all post offices in Ireland do sterling draft?

If you want to buy on eBay, you're going to need the seller to giver the OK on any payment method you use. You don't get to pick this, the seller does.

For buying on eBay, don't use any payment method other than Paypal, it's simply not worth the risk.

Thanks for that Jorel, but suppose they accept my way of payment of sterling draft how do I go about it?

You buy it in a bank or post office, and post it to them.

Very bad idea though, no protection at all, and eBay will not help you with any problems.

a bank or postal draft is completely traceable to the cashees account ,,,,,,,,but

really tough to get the local 5-0 in uk to investigate such a case and the guards here dont give a bollix about this kind of thing especially if it happens abroad
