wanted to be a garda when i was a kid, but was a bit too short, and colour-blind, so decided to be a scientist. went through school, then university, then more university, and am a scientist. but, no more height/colour-blindness issues in the gardaí, so i'm biding my time and will hopefully get be a garda in the next couple of years.

I want to be a pilot but I'll have to get €100,000 to train and become a certified one. then get in with an airline.

I'd say by the time I get that money I'll be about 40. Which means The most I'll be a pilot for an airline is 10 years...

I'll spend 20 years of my life working like a dog to get enought money and then spend 10 years doing a job I like.

and I know it'll be worth it ......because its my dream

When I learned to read. Honestly.
Once I discovered books and read about the lives of others and the work they did, that was it, I chose the life I wanted in the future and went for it.

There is a career I want to get into, but is though to get envolved in.

Currently I'm doing whatever gets me a paycheck...

This has lead me into a 'career' in IT support...

Went from call centre agent - complaints management now looking to see where I can go further in here to get me some extra money to put aside.

Even though I seem to be progressing through as a career, reallly all it is to me is a job.

    I'm 22 and have a slight notion.

I haven't got a clue. I wanted to be a vet when I was young, before I heard about the hand up the cows arse.

Then I wanted to be a journalist but it's hard to break into with talented writers such as Alison and co. dominating the analysis pages.

The stint in customer service wasn't too pleasant, nor was the PA job - glorified coffee maker.

I'd like to be florist. It must be very uplifting. I doubt you'd walk out of work every evening and think: "I hate those f*cking flowers, get me a drink right now."

I have an ambition to become a darts player. That would be my dream job, earning money on stage and through exhibitions all around the country. :D

No job now though, looking for one for the summer alright, maybe even through college.

I knew from about the age of 7 or 8 that wanted to be an archaeologist. I don't really know where my love of history came from but there was never anything else I wanted to do. My nickname at school was 'Indiana Jones'!

It was good in one sense because I had a path to follow, knew what I needed to stud

Thankfully I got exactly what I wanted and am now I qualified archaeologist :).

When I found what I enjoyed. It took me 4 different careers, 5 employers and a lot of pain and misery to find it.

Left school at 17, eventually found it around 22.
