Hi, Ive had nothing but trouble with my sky hd boxes (on our 3rd have it over a yr now) I stopped logging complaints as all they told me to do was turn of and turn on again. I didnt need to spend 30mins on the phone for that.

But its failing to record most programmes now, just says failed. Driving me gaga. Im out of cotract with sky. Will they make me buy a new HD box and if so how much.

If they make me pay thinking of going with upc cant be any worse or can it ??

would love to hear your experiences
    Thanks

You won't have as many HD channels with UPC. I have HD with UPC and have no issues.

The lack of HD channels on UPC would be my main issue if changing from Sky, that and the fact that the UPC box compared to the Sky box in much the same way that a Spectrum 48K compares to a PS3...

I'd call Sky first and ask them for a new box. According to this, they're now giving the boxes free to new and existing customers. If they won't, you're out of contract so give your notice (preferably in writing) and move to UPC.

Friend tried to do this recently and they wanted the charge her 250e for the HD box Sky that is....

Maybe you should cancel and re-subsribe as a new customer ???

But then again if you had ongoing issues who is to say it wont still happen

I'll give them a ring tomorrow and see what happens, have a feeling they will charge me, in the small print it says only one free per household. I wonder if I could say I was moving and end contract then get a new one in OH name.

    good/bad idea??

it sounds like bad luck your sky boxes keep failing - although is there mybe something enviromental contributing? I used have terrible trouble with an NTL Pace box a few years ago - turns out ti was overheating...
