Does anyone know wether there is counselling services available to members of AGS or how they can be accessed? I know there's a peer support program but is there anything else available?

Just curious: Would you not have been given all that information during your Phase 1? In Garvernille, everything like that is covered in either Week 1 or Week 2 because it's so important.

I'm a tad uncomfortable with this being asked on a public forum, so can I ask that you PM a few serving members instead? Of course, there's no guarantee they'll answer you via return or on this thread because it is quite a sensitive thing to openly give details about.

The PS program should be your 1st port of call, even if it's just to find out what's available beyond their services.

Peer Support workers in the Ambulance Service have access to other support services, counselling etc, should the need arise.
From what I learned at the CISM conference in Maynooth some months ago other areas of the Emergency Services, AGS, Fire, Army operate a similar system.

Peer Supporter, then Employee Assistance Officer. Neither of which are counsellors. If you want to see a counsellor you'd be best to go find one yourself, EAO might be able to give you a few names in your local area.

This stuff is indeed covered in Phase 1.

I'm not a member but I am a psychotherapist and used to be part of the HSE's critical incident team [when we had one]. Anyway in most places there should some form of EAP employee assistance programme so I would sugesst starting at HR or the CIDS team. CISD is not counselling but in general most teams have contact to refer people on. The above would be quite general info that would apply to any ES.
