Question about Paypal/3v vouchers

First off, I'll just point out that I have read the FAQ's:
    Q. I've just registered a credit card/3V voucher and Paypal have taken €1 from me! What do I do?

    A. They haven't taken anything. They charge a small amount to your card, with a 4 digit reference code to appear on your statement. You use this code to verify you are the card holder. The amount charged is then available for you to spend, as it should appear in your Paypal account as a cash balance. This is the account verification process, and should not be confused with address confirmation.

My question is kind of related to this.

I've just won an E-Bay auction and the price total will come to 39.35 Euro including p+p.
I will be using a 3v voucher to pay. I know that when I register the 3v voucher, they will make a one Euro transaction just to test the card is active. The above statement says that the one Euro is available to spend.

Can anyone confirm that the One Euro is available to spend right away? Because I intend to buy a 40 Euro 3v voucher but if that 1 Euro is held for a while, I won't be able to go through with the payment.

I know I could buy a 50 Euro voucher and cut out the wondering, but I'm broke and would prefer to only spend 40! ;)

    Thanks,
    Any advice is welcome!

I don't know if it's available immediately, as I've not registered a new card with them for some time. It could take a few days.

Register the voucher as soon as you can, and hopefully it will be available in time to pay.

Thanks jor el for replying. Has no-one else any experience with this??

I think i'll have to go with the 50 Euro one so, as I need to pay by tomorrow.

I agree with jor_el over this - there is no way that the initial fee will come back into your 3v a/c quickly. Bite the bullet and get the €50 voucher. :)

mate youre betting buying a voucher of 45euro.
once you buy a 3v voucher you will get taxed from 3v themselves, from paypal which they will refund back.

from experience the auction which you won for 39.50 will not actuallly be that amount.

according to my knowledge paypal has its own currency conversion so youre actually loking at 41.50.

get one of 45e to be on the safe side.

freeze4real: You can only buy the 3v vouchers in multiples of 10. And the 39.91 was the total bill including Paypals exchange rate!

Anyway I bought the 50 Euro voucher, and it was the right option as the one Euro was taken away and probably won't be returned for a while. If I had've bought a 40 Euro voucher, I'd be kicking myself because I would've been 91 cent short and would've had to fork out another 50 quid!

Thanks to the couple of people who replied! ;)

Edit: Thanks allthedoyles, that's a good one to know.
