Shoes and Stability

    Hi guys,

I'm an overpronator and have been running in Asics Kayanos for the past two years. I bought Saucony Hurricane 11's today. Just wondering if anyone has any preference or knowledge about what is better and why? I've done gait analysis and all that. I just wanted a change in shoe and the new asymmetrical lacing in Kayanos drives me nuts! Saucony kind of remind me of Nike Vomeros a few years back. I'm a mid distance runner. Thanks!

"What is better" is a very subjective thing! If you're comfortable with the Hurricanes and you feel they suit you well, then that's the most important thing really. You're comparing them to the Vomero - do you like a very cushioned shoe?

I'd be similar to you in that I'd worn Kayanos for most of the last two years, but didn't much like the new version - with the asymmetric lacing being a factor. These days I'm alternating between the Brooks Adrenaline 10 for longer runs and Nike Lunarglide for shorter runs, faster runs and racing.

Seems like there's a good few of us abandoning their Kayanos. My 15s are just about to go into the bin and haven't been hearing good things about the 16s so went and got a pair of Nike Structure Triax. Haven't put a lot of miles into them but those I have I find comfortable, they're nicely cushioned and light.

Not sure about the Saucony Hurricane but I use the Saucony Pro Grid Guide which are a stability shoe and find them great. Getting over 700 miles before feeling like they're on the way out.
