SPL football next season

Hi, I'm looking to ditch Sky and ESPN next season. Are there any foreign broadcasters out there that show regular games from the SPL? Can you get commentary in English? Otherwise I'd be willing to learn the language before the start of the season

Sky Italia are definitely showing it, how much I don't know yet. Commentary last year was Italian and English so I'd expect the same this year.

Al Jazeera show the SPL as well as lots of other football (No EPL or Bundesliga). Dirt cheap subscription for the year too.

About €700 a year for a Sky IT Calcio sub.

Thanks Minstrel. Any ideas on how I'd go about setting this up? Will any receiver that accepts a card do? I assume I'll need a big dish as well, 80cm?

Any receiver that will allow you to use a viaccess or irdeto cam. Receivers can be bought cheap. I am sure someone else can advise on a good receiver for you.

80cm dish will be grand.

12 month subscription for approximately €150 depending on where you buy one.

Only the first year will cost you a bit as you will need to pay for a new dish, receiver and so on.

It looks expensive, yes, but it works out at 58 euros a month and that includes HD. And for that you also get Premier League (inc.3pm kick-offs), La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Scottish Premier, Russian League and MLS.

That's quite good value for what you get! Thanks for letting me know about it. However, at the moment I'm just interested in SPL football and I'm looking to get it for as cheap as possible That package is awesome though

Thanks. Any idea how often they show SPL matches on that subscription? Sky didn't show a whole lot last season Would they be just showing the matches that are being broadcast by Sky and ESPN?

I am a Celtic Fan and Last Season Al Jazeera showed every single Celtic League game even the midweek games not shown on ESPN/SKY , Its also brill for Champions League all 8 games live each night with Gary Lineker presenting the show , Loads of Spanish , Italian , etc etc etc

Also the 12 Month Irdeto cards are €119 from tvcorner.com

Wow, that sounds like exactly what i want! What set-up do I need, in terms or receiver and dish (I have a sky minidish at the moment but I figure I'd need to get an 80cm one)? How about Europa League games, it looks like we're heading that way now unfortunately Then again the final is in Ireland, now that would be brilliant!! [wishful thinking]

You could use existing SKY Dish and point it at 13E , Sky is at 28E ,

But I would go for another dish and leave the SKY dish in place for BBC ,ITV etc.

Cool, thanks for those. Whats the picture quality like on it? I seen another thread where people had issues with Al Jazeera picture quality for some of the pre-season friendlies, and complications last season with regards to new cards been issued. http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055879348 Would this set-up be affected by those issues as well?

Well I can only vouch for My Irdeto card that I got from tvcorner.com last september , It has worked every since I put it in my Techomate , There was one period of down time and that was 12 to 18 hours , Thats it

I have seen some SPL on there. Last week they had the games that ESPN and Sky broadcast on the Sunday. How frequently they show the games I couldn't answer you.

They have shown all SKY/ESPN games so far but no 3pm , Last season they showed all Celtic 3PM and most of Rangers 3PM ,

Some people are saying clubs are blocking 3pm due to poor Season Ticket sales.

For the Moment its back to Radio Scotland for the 3pm's ,
