    So Kane is the attacker:eek::eek:

    Swerve:rolleyes:

Good to see Dolph get the belt after losing his previous 245 title shots as well.:)
    - Thanks to Eric for the following WWE SmackDown spoilers from last night, which will air next week on August 6th:

    * The show opens with Rey Mysterio. Rey says he did not take out The Undertaker. Drew McIntyre comes out and says he’s going to take out Mysterio just like he did to Christian last week. Rey accepts Drew’s challenge for the main event.

    * Cody Rhodes defeated Matt Hardy.

    * A backstage segment with Layla, Michelle McCool and Teddy Long. Teddy demands they give up one of the belts and Michelle does. LayCool argues and break the other belt.

    * Dolph Ziggler defeated Kofi Kingston to become the new WWE Intercontinental Champion. Ziggler got help from Vickie Guerrero in the match. Kofi attacks Dolph after the match and beats him up bad.

    * CM Punk, Serena, Joey Mercury and Luke Gallows come out. Punk shows footage of them beating up Big Show last week and brags about it. Punk cuts a promo on his fellow SES members.

    * Punk, Gallows and Mercury defeat the team of MVP, JTG and Chris Masters. Good match here with Gallows getting the win for his team.

    * Teddy Long and Jack Swagger had a backstage segment. Swagger blamed all his troubles with Kane on Teddy. I think this may have been a segment for arena viewers only since they referenced the dark main event.

    * Rey Mysterio defeated Drew McIntyre in the main event with a rollup. This was the best match for SmackDown of the night.

    * After the match Kane comes down and there’s a casket. Rey escapes from Kane and says he didn’t take out Undertaker and reveals that Kane was the attacker. SmackDown ends with Kane staring up to the sky for a long time, crying or laughing to himself.

such a surprise that kane was the attacker .....i mean no one saw that coming.....oh wait...

sounds like a decent sd! and im glad they have finally given dolph the belt, he definatley deserves it! ive been a dolph fan for a while now!

Glad Dolph got the belt too. I think he could do without vickie though

Is Kofi turning heel or something? God I hope not. He showed sparks of brilliance when he lost the accent and started facing Orton. Even though he stalled after that, putting him into a fued as that face character could have been great for him. A heel turn could ruin him I reckon

    re: Taker/Kane

.. and WWE actually pay people to write these stories?

i think he COULD do without vickie, but having him with her will get him serious heat, and will definatley elevate him further i think!

anyone remember when the IC title actually meant something and main eventers held it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,723 ✭✭✭✭Penn

I dunno, Rey and Jericho had some great matches feuding for it a while back, then Rey and Ziggler. It's supposed to be future main eventers who fued for it, so the likes of Kofi, Morrison and The Miz fueding over the IC and US titles isn't that far off what used to happen. The problem is since we have 2 world titles, the IC and US titles are pretty much the equivalent of what the European title was. Just another belt to have a match for at the PPVs. I just hope they quit pushing younger guys straight into the main event and have them feud with other young guys over the IC and US titles. Someone like Evan Bourne beating The Miz for the US title now would be great because The Miz is mixing it up with the main eventers now and the title is just kinda going to waste

Evan Bourne, Dibiase, Morrison, R Truth etc could have great matches for it

So the divas broke a belt?! why was there two belts?!
I've only caught tidbits of sd the last few weeks so I've no idea.

    Anyone care to enlighten me?

First SD in ages where there was no DQ finish or countout in any of the matches! Was getting real tired of that.

Beth was champion, but Vicky who aligned herself with Laycool declared that Beth would have to face Laycool in a handicap c'ship match. Layla got the pin but the girls and Vicky decided that both should be co champions.

    They explain it here...

Delighted to see some intensity from Kofi.

WWE need to so more of that with face wrestlers, the intensity shown post match by Kofi last week and so far during this weeks match make it look like he cares so It makes me care. Most of the time faces are so dull there is no reason to get behind them.

Also makes me care about the particular feud he is in as it seems like they really want to fight. More of the same please WWE.

EDIT: Post match beat down pretty good too. That sort of attitude could push Kofi way up the ladder.

Just watching SD there on record. Rey/McIntyre promo was good, now onto Matt/Cody. I have to say, I'm now addicted to Cody Rhodes's theme song.

Its a good show so far

I really like smackdown these days.

    CM Punk
    SES
    Rey is brilliant these days

Then the young talent is doing really well
Cody, Drew, Dolph and Kofi as mentioned in previous post

Kane as champ isn't half as bad as I expected it to be.

    Laycool are great.

They have even found a way to make Big Show worthwhile.

Now they just have to make Masters champ and it would be best show on tv.

The only way that i'd be anyway interested in Kane/Taker again is if Taker becomes BikerTaker again.

And if Kane got back the mask.
But it's unlikely either of those things will happen.

Agreed but he probably could not be called The American Bad Ass again because of the PG thing ha. Would love to hear after the Rey/Kane match the gongs and black out followed by "Are You Scared" or just the noise of a motor bike

I cant wait for the GONG to go off at Summerslam after Kane beats Rey. I've enjoyed every Undertaker-Kane fued, and this one will be no different, now that Kane is gone off the walls again

I hate Rey so ****ing much. His entrance music, his annoying promos and the head shag he does to kids on the way to the ring.

Best part of Smackdown was was when SES were doing the promo and they zoomed in on Big Show's face. They made it seem like he was crying but the image looked like he was pissing himself laughing.

    All hail King Dolph!

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,518 Mod ✭✭✭✭DM_7

Where was Swagger this week? Still selling his trip into the sea?

I'm not sure which was better, Kofi showing going loco or Dolph finally winning the IC title.

Good shwo all round, if anyone told me 12 months ago Smackdown would be headlined by Rey v Drew I would have laughed but it worked out well.

Can some please explain what Drew did to Christian when did he take him out?

If I recall last week Christian beat Drew with a roll up but I think he injured his hand

    Did I miss something else?

Taker's gonna be in that casket when Kane tries to put Mysterio in after the match...

    ----

IC champ Ziggler is great (finally) but so overshadowed by Layla's "NO IT'S MINE I WANT IT!" and Long's "Guh..?" face after the belt snapped.

Isn't that a little to predictable?

Oh wait, everything else about this angle has been so..
    Yeah. Good call Ridley.

Really enjoyed SD this week. 1 thing I hated though was that Rey was all fine after being "15 feet under the water" in the Gulf Coast.

Rey keeps ruining SD every week, winning matches with ****ty roll ups after getting dominated, it's just takes away from the whole thing, it's tedious.

Only because it's been before. ;)

I'd rather be wrong beause I don't particularly want Taker/Kane III. The real swerve would be that Mysterio and Kane took out Taker together.

Or Kane's just that unstable he thinks he did it (again) and Wade Barrett turns up to let everyone know that there's no reason they'd leave Smackdown alone or something like that.

Then showed a video with Rey's head bobbing on the water. :p

Isn't it more like Taker/Kane XIII? Or does it just feel like that?

    I guess I blocked some out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brothers_of_Destruction ;)

Though my forgetting Taker/Big Show vs Kane/X-Pac is unforgivable: "You. Hurt. Sean... You. Hurt. Me... I'm gonna hurt you!"
