Anyone watching this on TG4 last night?

Cracking match. One of the best of the last decade IMO...

2 teams really tearing into one another and ultra high intensity...

that was the year after, we wont expand anymore on that :)
that game op refers to was in 2002 . i was at that was game in the upper hogan. John Carroll scored Tipp's goal :) and Jimmy Coogan got Kilkennys :(

we lost by 4 and Kilkenny beat Clare in AI final.

Watched this last night, great game, better than I remember. Its gas how accustomed to everyone wearing helmets you get - it seemed so strange to see lads playing without them, you were nearly wincing every time they were challenged.

I only wore a helmet without a faceguard up until this year, obviously, but looking at that match or any other before the faceguard change it looks like madness not to have been wearing a faceguard all along
Two great teams just hurling away as best they could and hardly a dirty stroke in it.

Watching that match made me realise how good he really was. The best thing he did in the match was that handpass to Coogan to set up the goal after a great run. Great match. Have it on video somewhere!

the league final following may between same 2 was also a thriller. was at it. KK won 5-14 to 5-13 despite Tipp being 9 points up at 1 stage. similar game to the 2009 league final

That 2002 game will live long in the memory, unreal. End to end hurling all game, David Kennedy had the game of his life for Tipp that day and still ended up losing.
