really....ive even seen TWO DOORS with bench seat (saw two for sale THE SAME DAY in Dublin about 5 years back...

Mk3s were scarcer but I have seen one reasonably recently (at a show in UK where bench seats were all much rarer BUT if they had them there its a safe bet they had them here where they were much much popular)

theres a reference hre for instance

Early Rover P5's had them too, along with loads of stuff from the mid Fifties back to the dawn of (motoring) time. As already mentioned, they remained popular in American cars until much more recently. I'm open to correction, but I reckon the Lincoln Town Car is the only car (as opposed to truck, and not counting police interceptor Crown Vics and the like) still in production with a front bench seat.

I had a Wolseley 16/60, which wasn't a single bench seat, but a split front "bench" - two seats side by side, right hand handbrake and column selector auto. Used to sometimes convey 6 in the car, but only if a fit burd would take the middle. :p

    cool,thanks people

the mk3 cortina with a front bench seat as standard??
    that must be rare

i must do some measuring and see what fits, the mk3 cortina could take a 4 foot long front bench(i measured from the edge of one seat to the other, roughly)

i was worried that the transmission tunnel would be in the way but i dont think that will be a problem

They did their best to make it look like the car has bucket seats in that shot, but I can assure you it's a bench. The centre armrest folds up to make the middle seat, and there's a centre seatbelt there too.

It looks like the centre console swings up to made a 'sorta' bench seat:
