 it's really gone downhill for tv, every bloody channel has some reality crap...most of it is unwatchable

Cheap tv, for chavies, it's really putting the nail into scripted and original programming :(

I think reality TV can be divided into a couple of categories. Its not fair to lump it all under the one banner (even though technically it is).

A line needs to be drawn between competitive reality TV (Survivor, Amazing Race, Top Chef, Masterchef etc.), and situational reality TV (Airline/Airport, Brit/Traffic Cops, etc.). There are different audiences for both.

To be honest, I think there are enough channels to be able to avoid shows that you don't want to watch. I don't watch alot of sport on TV, but you don't see me moaning about all the sports channels, champions league games or international soccer.

Bottom line - just grab your remote and watch something else.

I enjoy the likes of Britain's/America's Got Talent and American Idol, mainly because they can be a spectacle sometimes and enjoying to watch - it's the same with Hell's Kitchen. I just cannot understand shows like Get Me Out of Here and Big Brother.

I think there's some really good reality TV shows out there - Survivor, The Apprentice, The Amazing Race etc. and there's also bad, but that's the same with every genre...

I watch reality tv and I am in no way a "Chav" (by the way, we're Irish, we've got knackers and pikeys here, not chavs)...
I'd be much more worried about the majority of the stuff you watch Richard, being detrimental to society than reality tv...
