    Hi,

Just wondering can anyone recommend waterproof runners & waterproof tracksuits, tops etc?

I can't really see anything in the sports shops & most of the time the sales assistants are not helpful so I said I'd ask the experts!

Any help or advice at all would be great.

    Hi A/R/T Mods

I moved this post in here as I thought your posters might have more experience with this and be able to help.

    Hope this is Ok.

One thing I learned early on is that "waterproof" and "running" don't mix.

Waterproof shoes: they still get wet, and since they don't drain you have water in there for the rest of the way.

Waterproof jacket: you still get wet, certainly from your own sweat, and then you get steamed inside the jacket like in a sauna.

Better get used to being wet.

    Ok.
So how do you combat the horrible smell from your runners after getting wet?
I actually don't mind getting soaked because as soon as I get in the door I'm in the shower, but the wet runners are annoying especially as I usually go in the morning & in the evening so they're still damp.

put newspaper in them to help remove moister. Leave them somewhere exposed to wind to help dry. Trainers smell, it's a fact of life.

get a second pair of runners and rotate. They'll last longer like that anyway.
And put some scrunched up newspaper inside them to help them dry.

Stuff them with newspaper, as your Mammy used to do with your school shoes. Don't know why but it stops them becoming as smelly.

One of the things you learn when you have a teenager:

Of course it works on everyone's shoes, not just the teenagers.

I never heard of stuffing newspaper in them before!

Thanks for the tip, will give it a try & see how I go.

    Thanks everyone.

Didn't ZuppyLurk do the Cork Marathon in waterproof footwear this year... he just had to keep stopping to empty them every couple of miles. :D

yep. The water/sweat/bodily fluids were poured out every 5 miles or so. It was a disgusting grey colour. Stealcapped boots are definitely not the answer.
