Hi, I'm looking to set up a free to air system in my house but have no idea where to start.

I saw xtravision have a Televis system for 90 euro with the dish and reciever but i'm not sure if its any good- I can't find any reviews on line- anyone heard anything? Would it be better than the ones from Lidl (i've read really bad reviews on them)?

Other than that I saw satellite.ie have a deal on box, dish and instalation all for 239euro but that seems really expensive in comparision. Though I like how easy they make it

By FTA I presume you want BBC1, 2 etc which are located at 28.2 East. It's a very strong satellite and it's easy to find, just look at a neighbours Sky dish for direction as it's the same satellite.

I can't say I've had an experience with that Televis receiver but there's nothing wrong with LIDL receivers imho. The only problem was that they were supplying them with a very small dish which was pretty useless for Ireland in bad weather. It was mainly geared towards mainland Europe.Iirc they now supply them with 80cm dishes which is more than enough.

Installing any FTA system pointing at 28.2E is simple enough, just make sure you get one of those cheap sat meters (€10) aswell and then there should be no need for you to pay for installation. Then again, if you're alergic to drills, ladders etc then for piece of mind maybe you should go for the more expensive option.Tony from satellite.ie is spot on. :)

If you want an easy life buy a Freesat branded box. No messing with settings after you enter a postcode. The dishes for sale in Lidl etc are not of a quality that will last years. Go to any of the online shops in Ireland and you'll get all the gear for about €150 (self install). A little more than what you were looking at but the quality will be far far better.
