    Hi folks

Looking for a bit of advice please. I want to redecorate my 2 daughters - age 3 & 9 - bedrooms. Dont have a huge budget. Walls are not wall papered so preferably ill just be painting them.

Both rooms are currently pink and purple. Id like to change them both as they have been like that for as long as i can remember.

Problem is im a complete dud when it comes to picking colour schemes and accessories. Herself used to do all that and id do the manual work, however she is not around anymore and id like to do something nice for the kids to brighten their rooms up a bit.

Any ideas for colours, themes, colours that go well together etc (Pictures would be great, but i know thats probably pushing it a bit :)) would be much appreciated. The 3yr olds room is at the front of the house and gets direct sunlight nearly all day long. The other room is at the back of the house and gets little or no direct sunlight so is a naturally darker room.

    Thanks in advance.

I have a daughter myself (age 10) her room is lilac x 3 walls and 1 pink wall.

Have you asked the girls what colours they like, take them to somewhere like atlantic homecare and bring them round the paint section, get a few colour charts and look at boarders for the 3 year old and maybe the 9 year old would like posters ( i know my 10 year old loves posters - twilight - horses - cute puppies- (used to be camp rock and high school musical - but thats so last year)) at least with posters she can change them when she out grows them.

I myself just painted the living room (and the hall way (dulux) cookie dough /(crown) magnolia and the kitchen and utility mellow sage (crown) and magnolia (crown).

    Best of luck.

    Hi there,
Re: Kids rooms and how to decorate them - I''d ask the girls (especially the 9year old!) what colours they want and take it from there...Places like Woodies, Homebase B&Q all have catalogues with rooms done up - use them for ideas. Also furniture shops like Next, IKEA etc. Keep it simple on the walls and use pictures / posters / wallstickers to add interest. Most important thing in kids rooms is storage I reckon - keeps everything tidy... In the darker room I would try and stay away from the darker colours, obviously, and use light coloured curtains, bedding etc, to keep it bright. Also a good light and lamp will keep away the gloom.
    Good luck!
