Typicals Days Diet

    Hey guys,

    What do you think of this for a typical days diet. I'm trying to eat a lot healthier at the mo for weight/fitness reasons.

    BK - Coffee (1%milk &one sugar), 2 slices of wholewheat toast with butter

    Lunch - 3 Scrambled eggs on wholewheat toast with butter

    Dinner - one large pork chop with large amount of peas and carrots.

    Any feedback is appreciated. I'm reading trough the threads at the top of the forum, looks like there is a lot of info there.

    Lunch and dinner are fine, though you could throw in some veg at lunch and something leafy at dinner. Breakfast is where you need to do some work. Try to put a decent amount of protein into your breakfast, and maybe reduce the bread a bit. Even wholegrain bread is still bread and there's very little difference in GI or calories between it and white bread.

    You don't have much dairy, so perhaps something like greek yogurt and chopped nuts for breakfast? Very filling.

    Yup, you're right about the bread. Dont think I've tasted greek yogurt before, but I'll give it a shot next time I do a shop. What about porridge for brekkie? It sounds like that should be good.

    Another question if you dont mind - what is the deal with wraps (wholewheat). I find its a great way to eat something like a chicken and veg stir-fry, a lot quicker and easier than rice or noodles.

    I'm also trying to cut down on the amount of pasta I'd eat e.g. have a big bowl of turkey mince, veg, and tomato sauce with a small amount of wholewheat pasta. Would this be a reasonably decent dinner?

    Sorry asking such basic questions - I've never really thought about eating healthy before. As far as I was concerned if it wasn't McDonalds or a Chinese then it was good!

    I really love a chicken and veg stirfry with no rice or noodles - just bulk up on the broccoli, it's really nice. Broccoli, tomato, bell peppers, chicken, maybe a bit of corn... nom!

    Greek yogurt is lovely, really thick and creamy.

    Porridge is a reasonable breakfast, but I think think you could do with some form of protein.

    Personally, I think wraps are a con job. They are just bread, and because they much flatter, you often don't realise how much bread there is an a single wrap. It's no significant difference between a sandwich and a wrap. I'm a huge fan of plates.

    Pasta can be a useful part of a diet, as long as you watch portion size. It's just that most people have no idea what a portion is, and will typically eat about three portions at once without realising it. If in doubt, more veg and less pasta.
