Advice on a motorised setup?

Right lads - clean slate and I need some advice. I have a DM800HD and this is currently connected to my old Sky dish. This is working fine but I would now like the option at picking up other satellites - particularly 13e.

I was toying with the idea of getting a Wave Toroidal T90 but have been put off because of it's bulk (I need to keep the wife onside) and the negative stories about rust.

So, can anyone please recommend a setup and where to get the kit? I'd imagine that the max I could get is a around a 1m dish. Also - at the minute, the Sky dish is mounted at the side of my house pointing east. Am I right in saying that to get the west satellites, the dish must be able to move thru 360 degrees?

    Thanks :)

Are you replacing the dish you have right now? or getting a 2nd dish?
either way your Sky dish is currently pointing @ 28 deg East of south... if you want to get 13E it will need a clear view 15 degrees to the left (as you face the dish) of where its pointing right now.

For West sats you'll need the dish to turn about 30-40 degrees to the left (again as you face the dish).

If you get it to turn through 360 deg you'll be back where you started :D

Regarding dishes, motors etc. try Tony's or Slegs' shops they are both very dependable and plenty of people on here have purchased stuff from them. (got my motor and 2nd dish from Tony - very happy)

I got a 80cm dish, for my 2nd dish, so I can't pick up 16e or 1w very well but I'm not too worried happy enough with the ones I do pick up. If you really want 16e or 1w go with the 1m dish.

Thanks for the info Sliced :). I envisioned replacing my existing Sky dish - did you keep yours for multiroom or something? Also, I read that a 90cm dish should be good enough. Would you go with this based on your experiences with the 80cm?

I came across this site that is good for finding out what satellites you can get - http://www.dishpointer.com/.

I asked about the 360 degrees because some satellites are w so I thought full rotation was needed :o

After checking last night, I should have enough clearance where the dish is currently mounted, especially as the bracket for the motorised dish is out from the wall and allows for more movement. The only thing is, when does the neighbours house come into play? Ant idea what angle the satellite signals come down at?

    no bother Mr Prez...
You should take a look at this thread over in the foreign satellite forum - I found it very informative as to what satellites I could reasonably expect to get with my 80cm dish.

I'm mainly interested in 19e, 13e (for soccer - thinking getting Cyfra+ card and maybe Al Jazeera Sports) and 5w for the French channels (get quite a few Heineken cup games on TF2)
