If it is done under insurance then generally it is free as most policys allow for free windscreen repairs.

im a owner of a windscreen company and my girlfriend went up to these and asked when could they do her free windscreen.she continued on to say she thought it was great that tesco,s were doing this for there customers and when could they do her bmw windscreen .only for the said company to say oh oh no its not free it,s done thru your insurance .to witch she reply,d but your sign does not say that. well she lifted them out of it and then went into the store and lifted the tesco,s manager out of it for letting the said company trade on there land but all ended well 10%of her shopping that day from tesco,s

    These guys are scammers.
AFAIK, they do a repair and then bill your insurance company for a replaceent windscreen.
Only free if you have windscreen cover on your insurance policy as has been said.

Oh, I thought they were just a bunch of good guys repairing windscreens out of the goodness of their hearts.

Had an argument with a girl from work the other week about this.. she told me she'd gotten a chip fixed by these guys for free the other week, when she was shopping with her mam.. i explained that its not free, but claimed from your insurance, she argued otherwise.

She said her ma even threw them a fiver for doing it.. lulz

So can anyone clarify this....I know it's all done through your insurance, but does it affect your no-claims bonus? Does it have to be comprehensive insurance? And do ya need specific windscreen cover?

If you must have fully comp then it's a dead cert it's coming off the insurance.

Unless your insurance specifically says that windscreen cover won't affect your no claims bonus then expect to pay back the cost of the windscreen in the next few years through increased premiums.

It's not a bargain because most windscreen places will sort out costs with the insurance company anyway.

Actually , if they do your windscreen and you end up having to pay higher premiums and they don't warn you before hand then I'd consider it fraud  because in some cases it's cheaper to pay for the windscreen repair then the premium increases.

If you have comp its standard

It wont effect your bonus either.
