What's going on?

I am new to this board and I do hope I'm not attacked for this post.

Firstly, I no longer live in Ireland; I luckily left before the crash. (lucky for me and for Ire in that I am not on Social Welfare)
Secondly, I have no understanding of economics and how it all works in our Irish system.
Thirdly, I know I am a logical thinker, know what’s right and wrong, fearless and uncorrupt.

I want to make a difference and I feel it brewing.

When visitors arrive I do like to talk about the situation and how the people of Ireland feel. Last night I was asking and I heard the following....please tell me that these are lies..

1. Pensions no longer exist, all pensions are gone....BUT you still all pay your monthly pension fee (I laughed at this...UNBELIEVABLE)
2. Our Government is taking a 4 month holidays (Or something ridiculous like that)
3. The situation with the refugees at Mosney....(I believe that these people have been offered alternative accommodation but will not leave....What?)
4. Pay rises for our Government


I ask, how do we get our existing government fat cats out of our system and bring in good people who care for this country and will certainty not be taking long holidays, receiving pay rises in these times....

I'll do it, I'll run the country.....

What can we do….can anything help the Irish now….

It makes me so sad….

1. they do still exist, just in deficit, like most places these days

Basically we as a race (Irish people) are cowards and our leaders know this hence they get away with whatever they like. Does'nt look like this will change anytime soon.

The dumbed down TV3 Expose generation who only care about Eastenders, Heat Magazine, Big Brother, Iphones, Ipods, Nintendo DS, Dundrum, Leinnnster Rugby, English Football, Lattes,Family Guy, Oxegen and drinking?

The Government and, well all the usual suspects can do what they want.
This society has neither the will, the intelligence or the capability to put up any reisistance other than to whinge about politicians.
The average punter on the street cannot name more than 10 politicians without hesistation. Neither do they have a basic understanding of the political and economical strucutres that they exist in.
They don't care. They say they do but they don't.
They only care about the list above.

1. False. You were right to laugh.
2. False/True. The Dail will not be sitting; dail committes are still operating. afaik cabinet meetings are still going ahead.
3. True. Some refugees at Mosney refused to move for various reasons (some just got used to being where they are, some had established roots in Co. Meath etc...)
4. False. TDs have taken pay cuts.

You know what the scary bit is? In their ignorance they might just be doing the right thing.
