Is there such thing as an all weather outdoor bag? Could the chain stand up to rain or shine? (From what I read is if its a powder coated chain...and a canvas bag,as opposed to Leather or other material would work in all weather)

    Anyone care to help?

    Thanks.

N.B. Reason for it,is I would just like to have it in the back garden, more space, outside, air, etc.

Simple solution, fill an old post bag full of sand/rags and tie it up with a rope, viola your outdoor bag made even heavier when it rains ;)

powder-coating wont help when its a chain, it will grind away. Personally I use a sand filled stand alone with all the fixings mastic or silicone sealed. I leave the "bag" part under the stairs when not in use. The rest remains outside.

A friend likewise kept his heavy bag inside and had a bracket fixed to his wall outside.

Generally I find its the rubbish suspension ring on the top of heavy bags that first distorts and then snaps. This is a real pain, in our gym they last a week before the main ring needs to be replaced. I don't know what the designers are thinking of? well probably boxercise or the likes.

As for the stand alone, expect the spring mech to snap after a couple of years, and the thieves who supply them always tell you that they dont have the replacement parts.

Given the limited life you can expect there's a lot to be said for Yomchi's suggestion re. the post bag. also I've never had a "heavy" bag that didn't require emptying out all the foam, and replacing with rags and sand.

So Yomchi, where do you get the post bags?

I hadn't even thought of that haha,my uncle said the same to me there this morning haha, cheers for your help though :)

And you're right about the foam replaced with rags and sand,my cousin did the same with his bag as he wanted it to be harder or heavier or both, can't remember which, but anyway,it did the job very well.

And I too want to know where you could get a post bag that big?

    Cheers

I reckon any post office would have some lying around that they could off load. I get them through where I work, the office upstairs deals with tons of post. If you have trouble getting one I may be able to sort one out

i have mine hanging out side for years and i had to take it down because after a while of rain getting in the water went stale and started to smell and every time i hit it water would come out of the seam at the bottom and stink up the place, so i would recommend that you don't unless you have the space and don't mind the smell, also i was told to pierce a hole in the bottom for the water to fall out of but there was a constant flow of water.
