Got this message yesterday. Googled it and tried theses suggestions

    -unplugging it
-holding down power button til it beeps so many times
-Taking the HDD out and putting it back in

    None worked.

Has this ever happened to anyone here?

Do i need a new HDD or a new PS3?

PS3 is out of warranty too.

    Thanks.

i posted this in the troubleshoot thread but no replies, maybe people didnt see it

I get this message every now and then on my launch day 60 gig PS3 that now has a 320 gig WD hard drive in it .

I just hold down the power button until it restarts and then it does be fine , funny enough I never have it happen to my 40 gig PS3 that has the same type 320 gig WD hard drive in it.

I upgraded my 60gb with a 320gb of the same make (seagate) about 6 months ago & have had this problem a few times, turning it off & back on again works for me.

A word of warning: If you remove your hard drive & put it back in the ps3 formats it.

Tried all those things and nothing worked. Think i'll have to buy a new one. Anyone know the best/cheapest ones to get?

Choose the rebuild database option, worth a try before you buy a new one
