Loosing Dtt signal

    Hi guys,
I have LG tv with built in freeview and receiving Irish dtt service trough it with no problems (aerial connected directly to input on the back of tv). I also have Sagem freesat HD receiver connected to HDMI port. Problem is that every time I turn the receiver on picture on dtt freezes and goes missing, in other words I have to switch the receiver of in order to watch terrestrial channels as suppose to just change the inputs on the tv remote ... Any ideas why that is?? Many thanks ...

Correct me if I'm wrong but, it's hardly anything to do with the RF out when you are using a HDMI lead for the HD receiver!!!!!!

Sounds like interference(electrical) from the HD receiver getting into your DTT cable. Is is good quality co-ax that's used?

    May be something totally different!!!!!

hmmm... I was thinking about electrical interference alright. Both, sat receiver, and aerial cable are coming from the same socket on the wall via fly leads. Would screened socket do the job? Any experiences ???

I get interfernce when the 2 sky boxes are on, but essentially its teh same problem.

I tried different cables, different hd cables, lots of things but nothing

Are the two sky boxes beside each other?

Reason i ask is that I'm thinking of changing my own setup, by relocating the two boxes to beside each other and using a combiner and link amp & eyes to distribute to all my room, thereby allowing me to watch & control my sky+ box or my "free to air"(box without card) sky box in any room.

Just wondering will I have intereference issues.

    Must have overlooked that part.:o
Is your sagem box capable of having it's lnb power switched of in the menu? If so, try that. Looks like either the wall socket or the multiswitch/combiner at the other end is not splitting properly.

Yes, well one on the lower shelf, one on the middle shelf. Thats the setup i have with the F140 and then 4 way distribution box. I can control either box through the magic eyes in the rooms.

Could very well be something stupid but i can find a fix by changing cables etc

    you could try these:
    • turn off HDMI-CEC (aka SimpLink) on the TV & freesat box
    • Remove HDMI lead and see if problem occurs with a SCART lead
    • turn freesat box on first, then TV; does problem occur?
    • change channel on freesat box; if problem then stops its a diplexor/distributor problem or low signal on DTT
    • use a different HDMI input on TV
    • replace HDMI cable

Cheers mate, problem stops when I change channel on the satellite box... Must be week signal then, as I don't have diplexer(cables run separatly from aerial an the dish). I'll see what I can do as aerial is in the loft...

I had a similar problem but my sat signal was diplexed with the aerial on a single cable. DTT signal strength was typically around 40 - 60%. Mast-head amp fixed it, signal now 80% and no interference from freesat box.

Thats interesting because my reception is around 50% mark. I must check out this Mast-head amp you speak off
