I am currently in the middle of work experience at the end of the FAS course I have been doing all year. I have to wait for my work experience to finish before FAS send out the letter to say I am now finished the course. I am worried that the time between waiting for that letter and when I actually go back on the dole again (providing i dont get a job of course) will be a long time. Has anyone had any experience of waiting for the termination letter from FAS to sign back on and how long you were left with no payments at all?!!

My husband was on a FAS course and social welfare payments resumed the week after the course finished. A person from social welfare came into FAS on their last day to sort out the paper work. I dont know if that is just a special arrangement they had here in donegal.

When I finished a Fas course recently, my social welfare payments resumed the following week.

I took about 2-3 weeks for the letter to be sent out to me.

Someone else who was on the course with me, didn't get any social welfare payments until Fas sent them the letter stating the course had ended.

Another person on the course said last year, when he finished a course (I don't know if it was a long or short course) said it took six weeks for Fas to send out the letter and he got no social welfare payments for those six weeks. When he did get the letter though the social welfare, backdated those payments for six weeks.

That happened with us as well, and one person (mentioned above) was without payments for those 2-3 weeks that they didn't have the Fas letter.

I am not sure if anyone else on our course was without payments after the course ended.
