Novation nio 2/4 - Traktor Pro - Latency

Hi, I'm using the above equipment and I'm experiencing some latency. I'm running the nio through a Denon DNX-1500. I seem to really only notice it on the bass frequencies though.

I realise that's not much information but I don't know how to explain it better. I tried the Traktor forum and had no luck there.

    Can you explain more?

When you say the frequencies, is it dipping in sound when both of the basslines clash?

Yeah, that as well. But it's also 'clipping' with one track if the bassline is very deep. However, it's not only the bass that's causing the problem, it happens in the mid/hi range occasionally.

I'm not having an issue when I play iTunes through the mixer, so it's definitely a problem between Traktor and my sound card.

Another thing, the sound will occasionally drop out when I use the midi controller. Say if I'm using an encoder for the first time in that session. Doesn't happen often but it's obviously related.

I have the same soundcard, and to be honest, it sounds like you have the master limiter enabled and your driving the levels too high in traktor and it's clipping!

either turn off the master limiter in the settings, or turn down your levels!

I was sold the nio second hand as a simple plug + play device. Didn't realise I could access any settings. I've also just found out it comes with an fx rack? So I've no idea how to turn of the limiter.

Go into Traktor...preferences...go through the tabs until you find the master limiter. Not rocket science.

    Not rocket science.

    Why the attitude?

I've obviously misread eeloe's last post. I thought he was associating the limiter with the soundcard, and the high levels with Traktor. I've read over it again and that's how it sounds. I realise now that I'm mistaken but it's an honest mistake.

Like I said earlier, I just found out that the nio comes with a software package. Not knowing anything about limiters, and mistakenly associating it with the soundcard, I tried to turn it off in the novation software. When I couldn't find it I asked for help.

This forum is for beginners as well. Not just you.
