    Hi,

I'm going to a party on sunday (day) and was thinking of wearing a maxi dress.

I'm kinda worried because I'm a fairly big girl (18) and was wondering would it look like sh**e on me? :(

I was thinking it would be the best if its a sunny day, kinda dressy but not too bad!

    Thanks!

    hi there,

i think it depends on your body shape more than size and also if you try some on and feel comfortable in one is more important than the type of clothes you are actually wearing. i am a size 12-14 but my stomach is my problem area so i go for longer tops/dresses that are fitted around the bust and not too loose around stomach. i am not sure what to advise but all i know is when i see bigger women and if they are conifident they can appear as attractive as skinny girls..good luck with it ;)

    Thanks :)

See the thing is I actaully wear an 18 but am told I look like I should be in a 14/16 - I do have lots of clothes this size!!

I'm working on getting back to the size 10 I was a year ago (damn college!!)

    But thanks for your reply!

Depends more on you shape really. Like anything else you need to try a few on - five could be all wrong then on could be perfect!

there are so many different styles and types of maxi dresses out there that you honestly wont know what suits you until you try them on. I always loved maxi dresses but cos Im small i thought they made me look small and really hippy (big hips, not 70's hehe) so I never tried any on.
Then during the summer in new york I tried on two, one is straight up and down, not too flowy and its amazing on. and then i have another one that has loads more fabric in it, strapless, and id say that makes me look smaller than i am but its too cute for the summer :)

Go and try some on during the week, still loads of sales on, and im sure youwill find one that you like on :)

I saw a woman today who is a similar size to you, in a black tiered maxi dress with a cardigan over it and I thought she looked fantastic:) I was going to ask her where she got the dress.
There are different shaped ones out there. I tried a few on in shops around cork and they all made me look pregnant, but I got a couple online and the fit is much better. I find the ones that gather under the bust kind of billow out around the rest of the body making me look bigger, If you could get one that is straight and fiitted around the bust, upper tummy area, they are so much more flattering. As the others have, said, try on a few and you will find the right maxi for you.
