Buying a house in Ferrybank

    OK, prices are cheaper here than elsewhere, 160K for 3 bed semi in Oakridge.
    Whats the catch, are the prices likely to plummet in this part of town? There is alot of empty housing stock in Ferrybank.

    Probably due to the fact that this was the next growth spot for building in the town owing to the fact it was one of the few areas left with large amounts of land for development close to city. Builders went nuts putting up houses and got caught right when bubble burst hence the excess capacity and low prices you now see. If I recall correctly there were plans for thousands of houses all the way up the Belmont road linking up with the existing ones on Abbey Park road.
