Does anyone remember the time Kerry failed to show up against Dublin (could be wrong with the teams) but Dublin had to kick off and score to seal the win. I'm tryin to find clips of this match online.

Think it might have been 1993 think it was kerry/cork who refused to play extra time. Vaguely remember something like that

National league final way back in the 80's. Dublin v Cork and it ended in a draw. Cork had to catch the train back and were told to play extra time and refused. The Dubs took the pitch, scored and won. :D

    Mad stuff.

I was talking to Barney Rock about this a few months back. He said it was the most bizarre game he was ever involved in.

I've a feeling it was a NFL semi final. When Cork refused to play extra time they forfeited the game but the ref came out anyway and through the ball up for the Dublin players to attack and they passed the ball into Barney and he buried it!!! Dublin beat Kerry in a classic final. Bout 1987.

The train was the excuse AFAIK, but I think it turned out that they wanted a reply in Cork, and thought they had been promised one.

It was around the time when they were pushint to have semi-finals and finals played outside Dublin "for the sake of fairness" :D:D:D
