Weight Loss Attempt

Hi Everyone, I'm a 5'5 female, just under 10stone and looking to lose one. For the past six months I've been trying to get back to the gym and bring my fitness levels up. I started out at 2-3 cardio classes a week (and eating healthy) but as this had no effect for the past few weeks I've uped it.
I've been attending 3 spinning classes a week which last for ~45mins and also one step and tone class a week for some variety. At the weekends I usually go to the gym and swim and I've also taken up surfing as a new hobby. Can anyone tell me if I'm on the right track and if I should lose weight doing this?
    Thanks for reading!

lay out your diet for a typical day in detail from AM - PM.

Also have a read of the stickies at the top of this forum - wealth of free fantastic info in them.

Hi ULstudent, thanks for the relpy!

Breakfast is usually porridge or else a boiled egg and a slice of toast.

For lunch I either have a tuna salad or else soup with a slice of brown bread and a yogurt/jelly pot.

For dinner I usually have fish or chicken. I try to avoid potatos as much as possible (have sweet potato instead), and I might have pasta maybe once a week.

I usually have a banana or something small before I go to the gym too.

I do drink 2-3 cups of coffee a day, dunno whether or not that has any effect.

You seem to have a good diet, Maybe cut out bread completely for a while and see if it makes a difference. I know bread bloats me. Also write down what you eat and drink in case you are having more than you realise, and check portion size. Diet is so important to weight loss. You cant out train a bad diet!

I would try to add a few weights sessions such kettlebells or try doing some free weight and body weight exercises at your gym to build some muscle.

Pasta is up there with potatoes, and sweet potatoes are much better than normal potatoes. Watch portion size.

A few months back I wanted to drop a few pounds and I just followed G'ems post to work out my calorie needs: HERE and then (and most importantly for me) weighed EVERYTHING I ate and logged it. THis allowed me to control calorie intake and also opened my eyes to portion size and how I was waaaay over eating on certain things.

My gym consisted of the same heavy lifting as always and I also threw in HIIT sessions. The few pounds came off over the course of a month or so and it was easy peasy lemon squeezy.
