Need something thin and light for travelling.

I have my eye on two laptops:

They both have the same screen size. The Acer has much better specs, but the macbook pro has the great aluminium case. The battery life is also comparable, however, the Acer has no dvd drive. I could get a cheap external handy enough no doubt.


Any ideas or opinions anyone?

I'm using a mac book pro now, having converted from windows last year. They really are superb and would certainly recommend them for travelling. I wouldnt like the hassle of having to worry about an external DVD drive.

Stay away from the Acer to be honest. Service and quality is atrocious.

3820T is a fabulous piece of kit tbh. The lack of optical drive has allowed the addition of a second fan making it one of the coolest laptops i have ever used, even under heavy load of gaming etc. Perfect for use on the lap etc.

Best battery life on a 13" at the moment. Under browsing and mid screen brightness 8 hours is possible. The mac wont reach anything near that.

Spec wise very solid. The 5470 is a mid-range GPU that will play most games on mid-high settings comfortably.

It is very well built. Screen is on the light side and has a degree of bend, but would still take noticably force to break it. Chassis is very solid and could easily take a few knocks. Looks awesome to!

TBH i would highly reccomend travelling to PC world or such and just getting a feel for the two. All the opinions in the world wont compare to your own personal experience with them.

I have a lenovo x200s. So light I don't even notice it in my bag. Has everything a netbook does and more.
