Just watched this Vid of Reynolds at Comic Con where he was promoting The Green Lantern. A kid asked him to recite the Green Lantern Oath and he put his all into it. Thought what he did was awesome, and the kid's expression says it all.

Ive always liked Ryan Reynolds as an actor. He as been in some bad films but his performance always made them better.

I like him, hes got a great natural charisma and his comic timing is fantastic. Even in stupid stuff like Van Wilder he has great charm, he just needs that breakout role.

looks staged like alot of these "questions"

I think he is a pretty funny actor

Heh, no matter how shìt the movie could turn out that moment right there is probably gonna be one of the best moments of his life.

As for Reynolds, I always liked him but he seemed to pick the usual fluff that would give most people toothaches. As Krudler said, he needs that breakout role which Buried (Out later this year) could be the one to raise his status a bit more (Assuming The Green Lantern isn't attrocious!)

Most of the questions asked all sound staged because they are the obvious questions.

I'm really looking forward to seeing him as a Lanturn, I think he will be great.

Really good actor although his film choices are sometimes strange. His profile has really risen in the last couple of years.

Very likable actor, and seems to be an all-round good guy.

Very good comic timing and still one of the funniest cameos I have seen (before Bill Murray in Zombieland) when he appeared in 'Harold & Kumar go to Whtecastle' IMO.

I think he's a talented actor who's been typecast; a lot of his roles play on his charm and looks.

Yeah have to admit Berg was a funny character.
His comic timing in it was great.

I think he is an all round good guy.I've not seen him in a film he wasn't good in (even if the film was poor)......when I saw him first on that tv show I thought he was a wee Jason Lee wannabe but he has much more to him.....and I love his wife.....but am not jealous....always a good sign.

    "marijuana.......but WHY?"

I think he's great. Very likeable actor who, despite not always having great roles, performs well and does his job brilliantly. As said previously, I'm really hoping that The Gren Lantern and Buried (and hopefully a Deadpool movie) gives him that extra bump up the ladder

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,798 ✭✭✭✭DrumSteve

When he recites "i swear" in a fat suit in just friends... that was funny.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,217 ✭✭✭TheIrishGrover

I like him. He comes across as a decent enough bloke. As someone said above, his mouthing of "I Swear" is very funny. Plus, I liked the whole adlib he threw in on Blade "Y'know, you could blink accasionally too" (And his various outtakes from Blade on youtube.)

However, the only problem I have with him is that he's married to Scarlett Johansson........ Ba*tard

Everything about Ryan Reynolds makes me want to punch him.

I can't explain this, but everytime I see him, I am reminded of the immense irrational dislike I have of him.

    Good interview here with him

Seems like a really grounded, articulate, decent and funny guy.

He might get some good reviews for Buried.

He's probably guessing, but it's not unlikely. I mean, Reynolds knew the speech. Maybe he'd have learned it anyway in case he got asked (possible given where he was), but it's suggestive of a plant. Mostly though, my thinking is, "Who cares?"

Because, as a fan of "The Hills" he's an expert in fake "reality"

I thought the kid was real actually and that it was a cool clip

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,055 ✭✭✭conorhal

He suffers from a condition called 'Ronaldo Face', it contorts your facial muscles into a perma-smirk that triggers a desire in everybody you meet to want to smack you in the chops.

That said, he has good comic timing and as long as he sticks to his well worn stichk of cheeky frat boy humor he can be entertaining:

Easily his best role is in Waiting (trailer here): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJEsNjH3JT8

Frankly he should stay the hell away from superhero flicks...

Waiting is a really enjoyable film but I reckon my favourite Reynolds movie is Definitely Maybe. Absolute chick flick but a nice one all the same.

Watched Chaos Theory recently too and it was a decent movie but nothing overly memorable I felt.

As for Van Wilder...pure tripe but I feel that way about most of that genre.

This pretty much sums it up.

I would rather not see a Deadpool movie made than have him play Deadpool.

    I like him too,

He has picked some dire films but he does have certain charm and he seems sound in interviews.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,364 ✭✭✭paddyismaddy

great comedy actor needs to get a dark dramatic role to prove his chops

extra points for banging scar jo :D

I really like him, he's got a certain decent bloke quality to him that seems very genuine and if its a put on than he is one hell of an actor. He reminds me a lot of Nathan Fillon and Bruce Campbell, guys who you just want to see do well because god knows Hollywood is home to some of the biggest prats on the planet and it would be nice to see so success go to the nice guy.

One should really hate him. Great looks. Great bird. Oozes charisma. But dammit, he just seems like such a likeable bloke, it's impossible to hate him.:( :P

I've great time for Ryan Reynolds.....Just Friends is one of my guilty pleasures.

Buried might do it for him,, the trailer looks good but carrying a whole movie alone with alot of dialogue will be interesting ??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,836 ✭✭✭Sir Gallagher

He's a limited actor imo, the only reason people talk about him is because he seems like a decent chap. I seen him in an ad for aftershave a couple of months back he was trying to pull off the whole mysterious brooding look, he looked ridiculous.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,530 ✭✭✭patch

A lot of people including myself disliked him because he was one of the main reasons blade 3 was ****e. Comedy sidekick syndrome.
Waiting turned it around though, he's hilarious in it.

Interesting. I thought Blade 3 was crap but that he was the most entertaining character in it.

The way whistler was handled left a really sour taste in my mouth. The character and the way krisofferson played him added soooo much to the first two movies.
The younger characters changed the whole tone of the series, in particular adding crappy teen appealing humour.
Apparently the makers intended to continue the franchise with less blade and more teens. Instead they ruined it.
Still, now that I like reynolds as an actor and find biel less annoying, it's one for me to rewatch with fresh eyes.

It's an oath he had to learn from the film. I'm sure he knew people might 'test' him on it, so clung to the information.

Samuel L Jackson can still receite his Ezekial speech from Pulp Fiction.

Just Friends was one of the worst things I've seen in my life. I've hated him ever since.

he's meant to be excellent in "The Nines"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,462 ✭✭✭✭Snake Plisken

I love the guy, he can take the mickey out of his good looks (Just Friends), he is a bit like Jason Lee who I can't hate either

Thought he was the best thing in Origins as Deadpool/Wade Wilson, he was great in Blade 3 which I actually liked (I hated Blade 2), and was also pretty good in Smokin' Aces and even liked him in The Proposal.

Buried is getting great reviews, and his upcoming CV is pretty cool with Deadpool and the Green Lantern coming up.

So yes I like him :)
