I dont fecking well believe this!!!!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Just noticed on my G20 that i use for my games consoles sky hd and pc that there is slight image burn on the pc which can only be seen on certain lit images.

Its up top in corner where the back forward and refresh buttons on browser usually are.

It is really faint but still FFS i mean i never leave the tv on a still picture for long maybe half hour or so at most usually always turn screen off.

Is anything i can do? will it go away? Really pissed off with this i mean you wouldn notice it but i ****ing well do now like.

Ok i figured out how i might be able fix this by using the ''Snow affect'' a channel not fully tuned in causes. Now this burn in was cause by the top of my browser on firefox i am using a dark black theme with slight bits of red and some grey/white in it.

Question is how to i prevent this from happening in future and still be able to use the browser on my tv ?? Is any colors i could change the browser theme to that wouldn burn in or anything at all?

I've editted the title of your thread, I can understand your annoyance but there's no need to shout it quite like that in a thread title here.

With my mod hat off, if you use the TV as a computer monitor, there will inevitably be parts of the image which will be static for long periods - such as a menu bar etc. The station IDs for BBC HD and ITV HD tend to be "greyed out" so they don;t really persist - at least I can't see them on my Panasonic plasma after 90 mins of BBC for instance.

IF you are using yours as a monitor, I'd suggest at least dropping the menu bar off the screen (if for instance you're using XP) and take wahtever other measures you can to adjust your browser to remove static parts of the image. The least dramatic color scheme would also be a good idea.

    Cheers,

    Ritz.

Thanks for the reply sorry bout whole son of a bitch thing :p

Ok so now ive noticed the feckin start button icon on bottom taskbar is also slightly burned into the picture ffs. I can maybe fix the burn issue just how do i prevent it from coming back again and again......

I can auto hide the taskbar leaving it only in view if cursor goes over it this leaves a slight line across bottom screen instead of the taskbar again same deal though.

The top of browser is my main problem

Ok i looked into this further heres something i found.

    Computer Use

Plasma TVs should not be used exclusively as computer monitors. No matter how great a plasma TV is at resisting burn-in, if you use it mostly as a computer monitor you will get permanent burn-in. This happens because it will always display the same thing in certain areas (like the taskbar of your operatig system). Another reason why using it as a computer monitor is bad has to do with the fact that windows have white backgrounds, wearing up the pixels at maximum speed compared to other areas like the titlebars, taskbar, menubars, etc. If however you just want to use it a few hours a day as a computer monitor and you also watch movies and TV, in other words you mix the content, it won’t be a problem.

 ah bloody hell lol this major problem for me now i use this tv as a monitor for my pc its an entertainment system as well i use it for internet use it for watching all my video content on my pc and listening to music.

What am i gonna do like  seriously pissed with this now i wonder if i followed guide and only used pc part of it *Taskbar browser icons so on* for few hours every day would that be ok? I mean i usually mix and match with the tv anyway its not soley used as a pc monitor.

    Hi angerfist,
Don't worry it's only a bit of retention and should disappear but I would suggest that you use the Cinema preset and bring down the Contrast setting as low as you can while browsing.
You could also try and use a low contrast theme.

As you now know bright static images will cause retention if left for too long but if you run some full screen moving images or "snow" regularly it shouldn’t lead to “screen burn”.

    Good luck,
    Moo.

I have the Panny G10 50" Plasma and I also use it as a HTPC but only for video playback, I have the screensaver set to come on after one minute which is the earliest I can set it. I control the PC via UltraVNC from my pc, and if I want the PC to be running away I just flick the TV over to a TV station.

Just use it to playback videos and spare the screen, the pannys are too good to be used just as a glorified PC monitor.
