Season 2 of this start tomorrow, I found the first season to be enjoyable. They made some cool stuff you would need in a post apocalyptic world, such as a gasifier to create fuel etc... . It's kinda Bear Grylls meet scrapheap challenge with a bit of mythbusters thrown in for good luck. This season is base around a virus outbreak so hopefully it will be as good as season 1.
AN ALL NEW SURVIVAL EXPERIMENT BEGINS TUESDAY, JULY 27 AT 10PM ET/PT

What would you do in the wake of a global catastrophe? Even if you survived it, could you survive the aftermath?

Season Two of THE COLONY introduces viewers to a new group of volunteers with differing backgrounds, skills and personalities, to bear witness to how these colonists will survive and rebuild in a world without electricity, running water, government or outside communication. Over the course of 10 episodes, the colonists — who include a construction foreman, teacher, carpenter and auto mechanic — must work to utilize and strengthen their exploration, technology and survival skills in ways they've never had to before. THE COLONY features on-going commentary and input from experts in homeland security, engineering, psychology and the medical community, with expertise and insight into what the future could look like after a biological disaster.

Filmed on 10 acres of abandoned neighborhood on the Gulf Coast of Louisiana, THE COLONY'S simulated environment had been left decimated by Hurricane Katrina, a naturally occurring disaster zone that was slated to be bulldozed and turned into a public park. Empty buildings, weedy streets and the backwoods are all the colonists have to work with as they scavenge essentials for survival from their surroundings while fending off threats such as wild animals and malicious outsiders.

Throughout this season, the colonists face daunting physical and emotional challenges as they attempt to survive in a world void of all the niceties they've ever known, including environmental dangers such as disastrous weather and indigenous wildlife.

THE COLONY begins with the volunteers facing a 72 hour isolation period to psychologically shift their perspective from our modern world to the end of the world. Shortly after the integration into the colony, the threat of survival becomes imminent as hostile outsiders push them into a physical confrontation. How do the colonists respond and will their newfound skills be enough to protect their supplies and lives?

Its been a while since I seen season one but John Con made most of the cool stuff. They had a good line up including a convicted drug smuggler. Hope they get a decent crew this year.

I watched season 1 and enjoyed it for the most part but how much of it was real?

I mean, most of them were obviously actors and was that guy really a convicted drug smuggler? I just didn't get the way they'd try and get violent with other actors paid to scare them and it just made it seem cheesy!

That said, the inventions were excellent and it's a good concept so I'll probably give this a look again.

Took a look at the first episode, it was OK not liking it as much as the first season but still watchable. Like Cherry Cola said it can be a bit cheesy at time.
