With all eyes on the Europeans this week many people have overlooked the fact that this is one of the best weeks of the year in terms of athletics and the Euro s is just the icing on the cake

    Elsewhere:

African championships start on wed including quite possibly the next 800m WR holder David Rudisha along with the best that distance runners have to offer

Wed Mottram is running in Watford with rabits hoping to make his come back to elite status with a 7.45 3k after his 13.32 in heusden

Italy is hosting possibly one of the best Road races of the year with Sammy Wanjiru, Tadese, Cheruiyot and Kwambai in a field of only 36 athletes
