I've had a nose about on the Ford website after I was impressed by the Focus I had as a rental last week, however Ford now offer only 2 engines apart from the performance models

    1.6 TDCI Manual
    2.0 TDCI Automatic

I know a new model is due, but we're unlikely to see it for 5/6 months, in the meantime, is this not a bit restrictive. We've become accustomed to it with the likes of Toyota and Nissan, but Ford previously sis a solid range. Why the change now?

Cost of engine manufacture and no demand for more choices! Plus the EU is planning to impose stricter CO2 emissons specs on Diesel engines next year!

Emission based taxation, and the corresponding demand.

There is no demand for any of the Petrol engines as the cost would be higher than the diesel equivalent, and nobody wants to buy them anyway.

The 1.6TDCi is a cracker of an engine. The 2.0TDCi PowerShift was very dissapointing when I drove it. Must be the de-tuning doing something to it as it works well in 140ps form in the Mondeo and MY10 S40.

I know there's no petrol demand, but surely the 2.0 110 manual and the 136 manual and automatic available in the UK would be saleable.

OP, have you looking at importing? I know the exchange rate is not great at the moment and you probably will not save a whole lot but at least the spec and choice will be greater in the UK. The 2.0 litre TDCi 136bhp in Titanium spec would be the one to go for.
