Re-shafting a 7 iron

I bought second hand titliest irons last year, and the shaft of the 7-iron snapped in the middle of my back swing. It snapped under the grip so I can only assume that is rusting!
    Anyway, two questions
    1) Could I use the shaft of the 3 iron (which i never use) and get it cut down and fitted to the 7 iron head. Or do i need to get a new shaft

    2) Anyone know anyone in mayo/galway that do this and what kind of price I'd be looking at?

    Thanks

You cannot use a cut down 3 iron shaft for a 7 iron, cutting the shaft would make it far too stiff for you to use. It would be like a steel rod!!. iron shafts are graduated in length/stiffness, go to a pro, it wont cost that much, ask him to try save the grip and reuse it if it is in good nick.

cheers lads, I'll bring it in to nevada bobs one of the evenings.
I wasnt sure about the shaft of the longer iron..looks like a new shaft so.

The 3 iron has a stay of execution!! Who knows, i might even learn how to use the confounded contraption!

It depends on what type of shafts they are - if they are taper tip shafts then you can't use the 3-iron shaft in the 7-iron.
If they are parallel tip then it should be possible to cut down the 3-iron shaft to go in the 7-iron (they might need to cut a bit from both ends of the shaft to get it right).
But the chances are that they are taper tip and you will have to get a new shaft.
