Am I disqualified?

I dropped out of college last year (I didn't go to any classes after Halloween break). After that my grant payments stopped. Last week I applied for jobseekers and the person taking my form said I would need a letter stating my time there and saying that I would not be returning. I asked the college for the letter, they said according to their records I was registered until May 31st 2010 and after that was automatically deregistered. I know that if you sit Summer examinations you are disqualified until September but I have my results that state that I was absent from all exams and I have bank statements that show I wasn't in receipt of a grant. So am I disqualified?

Surely if you dropped out of college in November you let them know and they would have some record?

What have you been doing since November, how have you been surviving?

I was looking for a link on citizensinformation but couldn't find it!
However, I'm pretty sure you will be disqualified from claiming jobseekers for the rest of the academic year.
You should be able to start claiming immediately.. you were only disqualified until June. If you are out of full-time education you are not disqualified from claiming during the summer... this exclusion only applies to people who are going back in September.

    (c) Students who leave college mid-year :

Third level students who state that they do not intend to continue with their studies and leave before the completion of the academic year (without sitting summer examinations) may be regarded as no longer "attending a course of study". As a result they are not subject to this disqualification. Colleges should be requested to confirm that the student has left and does not intend to sit end of year examinations.
