I know,i know,im a cheapskate for trying to avoid paypal fees.I got scammed basically.I know i cant dispute through paypal because i sent as "gift" but i rang my credit card(visa) and they said write a letter into them giving the scammers paypal address.Sounds like something that would take months for visa to do and i know now in hindsight there are other disputes with this guy.Anyone have any experiance doing this?

    Thanks

Why on earth did you try and avoid fees as a buyer?

There are always fees to pay, even with gift payment. A seller asking for a gift payment is as dodgy as a nine bob note.

You may or may not get anywhere with your bank, this is a very grey area for them.

"Why on earth did you try and avoid fees as a buyer?"-Why wouldnt i?I didnt wanna pay the higher fees of "goods and services"

The seller didnt ask for the payment as "gift"-it was just me trying save money to a guy who i thought i trusted-Its fired back big time.Im stuck in aa hole, just dont know what to do.

You wouldn't pay the fees anyway. As it stands, there's not a lot you can do, other than what the bank has told you. You'll just have to wait for them.

For a charge back, the bank will first contact Paypal and say the amount is being disputed. Paypal will respond that you sent a gift payment to another person, and that no goods were involved in this payment. As such, you may have left yourself wide open to the charge back failing.

"gift" payments are just that, gifts! You cant do a chargeback on a gift payment!
