Got the invite to the Facebook group, wouldn't mind having a bash off this even though I haven't played in front of a crowd since the youths tournament in 2008. Also haven't played with a team since.

I'll get the entry form sent to me at least. :D

That is part of the plan and it would add greatly to the atmosphere.

We are awaiting confirmation from the PDC on that.

Special Accommodation rates have been arranged for the 2010 Killarney Festival at the Gleneagle complex and they are greatly reduced on last year's prices.

Bookings at this stage are well up on last year with more than 100 rooms and 25 apartments already booked at the Gleneagle.

    For reservations dial 064-6671550.

I wonder Pops how the selected matches are selected ? Will they involve top ranked players or the odd local thrown in ? I hope they can decide before the day and then post it up somewhere at Gleneagle who the initial stage players will be and who exactly will be on stage.
I know being used to darts that its been the PDC format for a while now to let keep the public away from Players Champs events and understandibly to let them get on with their darts but having spoken to a few spectators the weekend that turn up every year on the Sunday with the families that they're very disappointed not to be able to watch their favourites perform in front of them.
I know many will play there Saturday but Sunday is family day and I think it will take away a lot from the charm of the event. I wonder what the Gleneagle think of this ??

Hi Pops - - - first of all congrats on a great showing in Rockchapel on Saturday - - the pay-out should keep the ESB off your back for a while !

Regarding the Pro Tour in Killarney - - nothing the Gleneagle can do about it because, as you know, it's PDC/PDPA ruling and it's happening at all Pro Tour events.
But, be assured that we are looking at ways and means to make Sunday as enjoyable as possible for the spectators.
Regarding the stage matches these will not be announced until Sunday as the draw for Pro Tour events is not finalised until all players check-in not later than 11.00am.
GOD WILL BE WATCHING PROCEEDINGS !
Matches in the Pro Tour will commence at 12 noon sharp.

On a positive note, hopefully, some local players will get the opportunity of playing on a big stage in front of local supporters !

Yes I suppose Pops that giving a local lad his chance to shine against maybe one of the shining lights of the PDC on the big stage would be nice. Might not happen otherwise. As for entertainment maybe you could sing or dance even or maybe try a duet with the Minister :eek:
Thanks for the complements on Rockchapel. The earnings was captured straight away by the missus for the Spain Oct fund. Must visit our old Pal .... a certain young'' Mr Corbett :)

Just click Quote, Damien, and scribble away !

Most of the pros are very approachable and they do mix with the crowds for photos, autographs etc.

Many people can only go on a Sunday and might then just want to see the big stars in action. As you said though if its done right it could still work out ok. If the PDC and the Gleneagle organise it right so as there's a good feed of local and Irish players as well as some good clashes and top PDC to the stage throughout the day it could keep the crowd happy.
    If not then :eek::eek:

In accordance with PDPA rules the Pro Tour event will be held in a separate area, upstairs in the INEC, with access only to PDPA members, qualifiers and officials. Each player will be entitled to bring one guest.

is the friday night qualifiers and saturdays masters on the floor in the inec ? I am guessing sundays comp wont be very audience friendly ?

its a bit of a shame really if this is the case as its a "darts festival" rather than the usual pdc players ch,ship...
the last few yrs have been excellent to be able to watch the pro,s in action on the floor
