Is there a way to get temporary electricity on site for my build? I could strecth a lead from neighbours house if I was stuck but would rather something I could pay for myself. Would the esb be able to do anything for me?

I think they stopped doing that a few years ago, you would need to contact the ESB.

There used to be all sorts of tempory setups from esb without any official application.
Im sure now you would have to go through with an official application & pay the fees together with having a suitable installation on site with proper ducting & reinforced cable for any exposed cable runs.
