I just bid for a pair of shoes on ebay. The asking price was $114 I bid 95$ and i got the following counteroffer:

zadehkicks sent you a counter offer. 25-Jul-10 22:48:26 BST
Seller's counter offer: US $108.00 Offer expires in: 47 hours 30 mins Seller's terms: Or will do $96 + ship if you make counter offer of $1. I will accept and add the amount to dhipping

Is this a common commission dodging technique?
If i was to offer $1 would I be putting myself at risk?

There's no fees on postage, so putting all the money on that will result in him paying less fees, and you getting it cheaper. It's against eBay's terms to do this, but that's the seller's problem.

It shouldn't be any problem for you, and his feedback is very good.
